There is nothing wrong with you that makes it okay for others to abuse you in any way.
We struggle to understand how anyone could be abusive. If there is something wrong with the abuser somehow that makes it more understandable. We can’t get our minds around the idea that abusers abuse because they want to.
We think that if something is wrong with us that answers the question of why they did it.
You did not cause the abuse. There is not some characteristic that you possess that made you abusable. That is just an excuse we use to try to understand why and how this happened to us.
It was not your fault and nothing about you caused someone to abuse you. We cannot accept responsibility for what was done to us.
Keep facing the truth that what happened was wrong and you never deserved it in any way.
What would you say to a friend who was asking these questions? You would tell that friend that no, they did not deserve the abuse and the abuser had no right to do what they did. You deserve to hear that truth from yourself also.
Speak truth to yourself and continue on your healing journey.
You deserve to live in freedom and peace,
